Best for music fans, first-timers who want more than the market stalls, and anyone who likes a canal
Camden is not one market. It is six, plus a canal, plus the pub where Blur and Oasis argued and the one where Amy Winehouse drank. We start at the station, walk through the markets as the stalls open, follow the Regent’s Canal past the narrowboats and finish on Primrose Hill with the whole city in front of you. One thread holds it together: Camden had three lives, work, noise and market.

Worth knowing
A private tour for your group, with your own guide, in your language: £150 for up to five people, which is £75 each for two and £30 each for five, and £210 for six to eight. We run it at 9:30 on any day we have a guide: choose your date when you enquire. The stalls open at 10am, so the browse falls just as they do. If it rains the towpath and the markets still work, and if the skyline is hidden we finish at the canal bend and walk you back under cover.
Rather do it on your own? Camden Town to Primrose Hill: markets, music and the canal on foot is the free guide to it, or get the days timed for your dates.
